  1. Hello All, Since this is the easiest way to get the word out, my store and other marketplaces will be closed from Friday Jan. 20th until Sunday Jan. 22nd. All orders coming in over that time will be shipped Monday. Thanks!
  2. Hey Fred, Thanks for the update. I haven't seen Roger in years. I will say a prayer tonight for him and his family.
  3. Hello All, I happen to read a thread on another forum where a guy purchased a counterfeit GPX 5000. I thought I should share the links and video here on my forums to educate anyone thinking they can buy a real genuine GPX for less than the MAP price. I always recommending dealing with an Authorized Minelab Dealer. This has been a huge problem over the last 5-6 years starting with the Sudan Gold Rush. Here are a few links that might help you out - http://www.minelab.com/customer-care/stop-counterfeits http://www.minelab.com/usa/customer-care/stop-counterfeits/counterfeit-update http://www.goldcitydetecting.com/counterfeitgpx5000.htm Here is a great Youtube Video also -
  4. Hello Whitebutler, Very nice find. I haven't spent much time with the 19-inch coil yet. I have a few places I want to try it, but it's a beast of a coil when it comes to weight.
  5. Hey AZNuggetBob, Good to hear from you. I agree, the Black are not anything to get excited over, besides they are actually pretty rare compared to the common gold nugget. The coating does come off, some easier than others.
  6. Hey Way2cool, Yes, I heard the same thing. Sue said he retired gold hunting and stated guiding for game many years back. The Zip Zip book is still a great book not only for the White's Goldmaster series, but all VLF's and general knowledge on detecting. Thank God we had some great book writers like Larry Sallee & Jim Straight back in the day.
  7. Hey Afriscot, Thanks for sharing. I think you're getting the bigger ones though. I might need to sneak over to your side of the patch!
  8. Thanks Fred. Hope all is well on your end. Wishing you a successful 2017 season chasing nuggets, meteorites and other treasures!
  9. Hey Larry, That is a great book. I met Larry a couple times in person and also his Wife Sue. I haven't heard for either in many years, hope they are both well.
  10. Hey Brian, I happen to see this post on another forum, then seen you posted it here. Thanks for making the post here. I haven't personally done much side by side comparisons, but have evaluated the gold I have found over the last year and how hard I have hit some of those spots. I can contribute at least a couple hundred nuggets, most under 2-3 Grams, to the GPZ 7000 technology. Now some spots might have changed from weather, but I'm saying a majority was due to technology of the GPZ. I also normally only used a 14x9 Elliptical on my GPX 5000 (Coiltek Blitz or the NF Advantage). I can tell you it's split when it comes to sales. I sell a lot of the new Elite and EVO coils from 15 inch Rounds to 17-inch Ellipticals. The sales on the GPZ have slowed down due to this, but they are still selling well at the $8,000 price. I think the 10k price placed a lot of guys out of the market, but the $2000 price reduction helped in sales. To be honest, there are so many variables. When it comes to detectors, I would say most are close out of the box, but there will always be a few that might be slightly better than the others, while maybe a very few amount might be just slightly under the norm. Then you have all the variables when it comes to a person (experience, hearing, coil swing speed, coil height ....), then you have all the various settings/timings on the units, aftermarket parts, different coils ...... then ground mineralization, type of gold sizes, density of the target (solid sluggy, big and flat, specimen, sponge gold and more). I'm not sure you could ever get a real fair comparison. Purchase within your means, as you might never pay or justify for a high end detector. Then again, the flip side could mean you might find that one in "whatever" odds nugget and pay for the detector and more in full. Always fun to talk about, but most importantly, "BE THE FIRST GUY ON THE GROUND AND GET THE LIONS SHARE OF WHAT WAS THERE!"
  11. Hey Tom, Dennis and I were just talking about your and your Dad. We both said we should do a hunt sometime in the near future.
  12. Hey Tortuga, I have plenty of contacts, but I sleep better on this side of the border. Some great nuggets being found over there, but the are here on this side just as plentiful. Not all, but many locals have the mentality that "it's their" gold and an American is an outsider.
  13. Hey Matt, One heck of a pocket you scored there. The large piece has some really nice character to it! Thanks for sharing.
  14. Hey Tortuga, Ya, I think most will just use the 19-inch in certain zones of nugget concentrations. I could only imagine trying to swing the 19-inch all day, I would have to be using the Minelab Pro-Swing 45 Harness (comes with the GPZ) or the Hipstick with a really good bungee cord. I'm sure some are swinging it all day, but I'm with you, only on certain areas.
  15. Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments. Tortuga - Wish it was easy, but it's not. I guess we don't post when we don't find anything, so it always looks easier.
  16. Hey Chris, I'm sorry I missed this early. Great video and nice little pieces. The SDC is deadly for sure. Thanks for the business and wishing you a very productive 2017 season.
  17. You're very welcome Pax. Wishing you a very successful 2017 season. Rob Allison
  18. Hello All, Here is 9+ Dwt's of smaller gold taken from an old patch right before the year end. I didn't get out as much in 2016 as I would have liked and around the hips shows .... LOL This small patch has a variety of solid gold nuggets and solid "black" gold nuggets (manganese coating). Wishing you all a Happy New Year and a very productive 2017 season for nuggets. Sincerely, Rob Allison
  19. Hey Tortuga, I was hoping you would get out already. Keep me updated on how the 19-inch does. Wishing you much success!
  20. Hey Pax, If you're trying to find out the warranty info, then Minelab can run a serial number check if you call their Customer Care Number. I believe many of them are still out for the Holidays right now, but I would try next week. Also, depending on who you purchased it from (original owner), then you could contact that dealer and have them search their records for the purchase date. The warranty starts on the date of purchase and runs for 3 years. Minelab Customer Care Number - 1-877-SOS-MLAB (1-877-767-6522)Toll Free: 1-888-949-6522.T: 1-630-401-8150.
  21. Way2cool, That was correct. I sold a few GPZ 19-inch coil to that group, wasn't sure if they found it with it or not. You are correct, just the GPZ 7000 with the 14x13 stock searchcoil. What a great find and I'm sure the finder was excited!
  22. Thanks Guys. Wishing you all a Happy New Years that is right around the corner.
  23. Hey Tortuga, Yep, very nice piece he found. Some other great pieces are being found.
  24. Thanks Hendo. Hope all is well on your end. Wishing you a very successful 2017 nugget hunting season!
  25. Hey Tom and all, Funny you mentioned glasses. I think I wrote about this many years ago, but I found a pair of sunglasses (cheap ones) that seemed to really make certain ground colors stand out much greater than the human eye. I actually think I found more nugget patches with them, as I was able to scan areas with the glasses on and it would make certain colors that I was targeting stand out. Somehow I lost the glasses ...... I couldn't ever find another pair that did the same and trust me I tried a lot of them ...... LOL Ripply's Believe it or Not ..... It was actually true and I still think about those days.
