  1. Hey Guys, Curious if there is any advantage to using Google Earth Pro over the standard Google Earth for better imagery? I have heard mixed things, some say that Google Earth Pro is better, while others have stated the standard is just as good. Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey Guys, Great conversation about both detectors. I sell and own both, found gold with both of them also. That being said, no doubt the SDC 2300 is lighter, but I agree with Bearkat the ergonomic of the SDC is different and it feels heavier at times due to the way you have to hold it. The ATX with the stock coil is way too heavy for me without a bungee due to my wrist injury many years ago. I'm in much more tune with the Minelab PI's including the SDC 2300, so the ATX is not my personal cup of coffee. My ear is in tune from the last 15 years swinging Minelab PI's, so I don't want to change that unless there is a huge difference in technology or performance over what I'm using now (which there is not at this time). Overall, both detectors will find gold, just depends on how picky one might when it comes to branding, budget, weight and and other detector features.
  3. Hey Lunk, Funny, I never had the issue, then it happened once on our hunt. Today it happened 4 times, so I shimmed it like you mentioned and it solved the problem the entire time. I think you hit the "nail on the head," as the battery compartment has too much play and allows the batteries to move around.
  4. Hey Lunk, Nice collection of gold. I think we had around 40+ nuggets from the trip then, as I had 19 when I left. I couldn't get that 20 mark, as much as I tried. Took a good friend and new customer out today on an exploration run. I ended up pounding out 21 nuggets, he got 5 and Dennis got a couple. This customer will be setting up at Quartzsite for the winter with his three detectors (GPX 5000, SDC 2300 and CTX 3030). I plan on visiting him a few times for sure, so hopefully we all can get together for a hunt or two.
  5. Hey Glenn, It's amazing how many that place has produced over the years. I worked just one section of the lower part when I first got the SDC and pulled a quick 20 out for like 8-9 Grams. It was still warm, so I was burned out of digging. I returned once for about an hour with a friend and pulled 6 out within 30 minutes for another 3 Grams. You and Bill both hit some big ones at depth. Makes you wonder after the next huge storm what could turn up. Congrats once again on your finds. I'm off in the morning with a customer that purchased a GPX 5000, SDC 2300 and a CTX 3030. I'm going to show him around out West for the day, so I'm hoping we can snag a nugget or two off of some old ground.
  6. Hey Ron, Are you guys using the new Coiltek 10x5 TreasureSeeker coils on the CTX 3030's? Just curious if you have used them for gold nugget hunting. Some of the nuggets seem to be pretty small, so wasn't sure if you're using the stock coil, or the Minelab 6-inch round or new Coiltek. Hope to hear back from you. Congrats on your recent finds!
  7. Hey JP, Thanks for the info. That makes a lot of sense and did compare the contacts with the 6000's and noticed the contacts on the 5000's are smaller. I haven't had issues with the 6000's yet, but want to make sure we can figure out what is going on with the stock 5000's and you might have it figured out JP. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
  8. Hey Glenn, Congrats on the beautiful nugget. What is the weight? Sure has some nice character!
  9. Hello All, Just arrived back from a long 4 day prospecting trip with some great friends. My partner and I met up with Keith "Lunk" out in Western Arizona to hit some old and new ground. I'm not sure I put as many miles on my quad and hours on both my SDC and GPX in a long time. Back home now I'm beat, sore, chapped lips and sunburned. Lunk and I both have similar nugget hunting styles, so we both were on the same page when it comes to locating and hunting potential nugget areas. This trip was pretty rewarding with over 40 nuggets for the crew before we left. I ended up with 21 nuggets displayed on my Minelab SDC 2300. Nothing real big, just over 4 Dwt's worth of gold. My partner, Lunk and I have plans to hit some other ground in the very near future. Not sure why it took so long for Lunk and I to get together, but we both agreed it was long overdue and now it's time to make up some time on the goldfields!! Hope you enjoyed. It's still out there .... Picture 1 - Lunk, myself and partner last day (we looked burned out) Picture 2 - The Gold Nuggets I found using my SDC 2300 and GPX 5000 (21 total)
  10. Hey Glenn, Hopefully you have received better news on your detector, or better yet have it back. The days of "speedy fixes" seem to be long gone from Minelab. I remember the days when you could overnight your detector to them and they would spend 1-2 days fixing it and overnight it back. I knew some customers that got their units back within 3-4 days max.
  11. Hey Glenn, I think at one time we all (who stuck it out) payed those dues. I couldn't tell you how many times I would seen Richard Doherty pull 10-15 nuggets out per day and I would get the skunk. It drove me nuts, as I thought I was doing everything right. After just watching for hours and following him around, it finally happened and I found a few here and there.
  12. Hey Glenn, Congrats on the new nuggets. Dennis, Lunk and I spent 5 days prospecting and working some old spots out West. Lunk and I have been planning this trip for sometime, so I wanted to make it happen. We ended up with over 40 nuggets for the trip, most of them being small.
  13. Hey Doc, Great info. I just got back from a 5 day hunt out West with Keith "Lunk" S., and my partner. Keith and I spent most of our time swinging the new SDC's, while Dennis pounded it out with the GPX 5000. We scored over 40 nuggets to boot, so it was a good trip. That being said, I've been using the 6000mah batteries and they pretty much last all day if they are fully charged. The 5000 mah that come stock don't. Keith and I also noticed, or at least I did, that the Minelab stock batteries seen to reset the SDC (making it turn off and on) if bumped. I'm not getting this issue with the 6000's I'm selling for some reason.
  14. Hey Glenn, Never heard from you, thought I might see you this weekend. My GPX 5000 is still available if you need it. Congrats on the 42 nuggets. I can see that count being 400 before you head home. Congrats to "B" for finding the beautiful nuggets. Damn, hard to believe we all walked over, by or around that nugget all those times. No different than the 1.6 ouncer Dennis found a few years back in that wash. Thanks for sharing.
  15. Hey Guys and Gary, Quick update, the manufacture of these new SDC covers got a bit behind on manufacturing, so my order that I was hoping for last week got delayed a bit. It's already shipped and on the way Australian Air. I will get all orders out on the covers hopefully this week when they arrive. Looks like the Gray is a more popular seller so far, with only a handful of camo orders in. If anyone has questions, give me a call. Gary, got your email, just waiting on the shipment ..... LOL
  16. Hey All, Ya, pretty sweet deal if you think about and Steve H. hit it on the head. If two guys went it together they would save a huge amount. One guy could walk with the SDC 2300 at a great discounted price and the other with a GPX 5000. I've already had one guy purchase this bundle and he said he's going to relist it for sale ..... ok The normal Pro-Pack for the GPX 5000 is selling for $5995.00, so you're getting a great bargain. Not sure how long this bundle will run, but if anyone had the funds, this is the time to buy.
  17. Hey Rick, The GPX 5000 is the Pro Package. Comes with the 15x12 mono, pro find 25, carry bag, lower shaft and a few wear kits. Stock accessories with SDC. Free shipping also and both have their own stock box.
  18. Hey Steve, I think the unit is a gold finder for sure, but I'm so damn in tune with the Minelab PI's and their sound, the Garrett is tough for me to get used to. The extra couple of pounds also puts a strain on my right wrist, which I broke about 3 years ago. Overall for me, the sales really hit rock bottom for the ATX. I'm real surprised for the what the unit can do and the price, they are not selling more.
