DOC
OK, so I am all set Thursday to go detecting Friday. I got up really early on Thursday so I would be tired enough to go to sleep early that night. I like to be in bed around 5 pm then I get up at 2 am, leave at 2:30.Took my shower, had the air conditioning going really strong in the guest bedroom, got in bed at 5:10 pm and I was out like in 2 minutes, sleeping like a baby.At 9:30 pm my wife comes into the guest room and turns on the light and frantically says, "Can you help me?" I open my eyes sort of still not getting what is going on. And my wife is standing there with a wad of paper towels on her face covered in blood. She is literally gurgling on the blood and sort of throwing up blood and I could see the panic in her face, and she was pale and about to pass out. She was white as snow, and not very sturdy on her legs.I said oh my God what happened? She said I blew my nose and my nose started bleeding and it's running down my throat and I'm choking and can't breathe. She has never had a nose bleed before, but at least I knew what I was dealing with, and felt more empowered to help her. At first I thought she had been hit in face with something, or attacked, the first few seconds was me trying to wake up and figure out whether I was dreaming or if I was dealing with reality.I got her to the bathroom, had her lean forward a bit, and hold her nose with a wet rag. I got a bag full of ice and put it on the back of her neck. The bleeding started to slow and finally after an hour I got it stopped.Obviously the gold nugget hunting was off for Friday.Friday was spent taking my wife to a doctor to get the vessel in her nose cauterized. She is fine, but it scared the living crap out of me.Gladly give up gold hunting to know my wife is OK.Doc

Old Tom
Man that is scary stuff to come out of a deep sleep into that situation. I got used to it as a kid in the Navy when they called General Quarters around 2:00 or 3:00 AM but to see your everlovin in front of you all bloody like that has to be the pits. Glad you got the situation in hand before it got any more serious. The older we get the more fragile we become. I don't like it but we got to go with it. Take good care of her mate. Reno Chris
My mom has had nosebleeds like that and they eventually cauterized a couple blood vessels in her nose, same as the doctor did for your wife. Those nuggets have been sitting there for thousands of years, and they can wait until next week.
