  1. Hey Guys, I'm not selling the units, but can direct you to the guy that does build them. I believe the price for the entire unit is $120.00, which includes the sluice, 20 mess screen, pump, pump stand, hoeses, battery and some soap. The manufacture is Pro-Gold Prospecting, located in Youngtown, Arizona. You can contact Travis by phone, email or website. I don't have the info right off hand, but just do an internet search for "Pro-Gold Prospecting." Just let him know you seen my video on my forum. This unit is best used for just black sands. You don't want to run river material acrossed it and it's best if it's screen down to 20 mess or smaller for the best recovery. Hope this helps, Rob Allison
  2. Hello All, I picked up this little black sand concentrator today and must say it's a "GEM!" Over all the years of dredging and drywashing I never seen anything like this. I've used all the Goldscrews, Blue Bowls, Mini Sluices, Recirc Systems ... ect, but never seen something like this. Check out this Youtube video - A friend is making these at his shop in Youngtown, AZ. I'm really impressed with the recovery so far. Thought you might enjoy. Rob Allison
  3. Hello All, Its great to hear some detectors have been shipped back and working well. Reno Chris - Yes, Minelab sent all dealers a memo that the GPX-4500 will increase to $4,700 MAP price the beginning of next month. I'm trying to find the memo, must have deleted it. It's my understanding that the SD2200v2 has been brought back also. I'm still trying to confirm the price is the same as it was - $1,798.95. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  4. Hello All, Right now I have several projects going, work, the business and some sick family members. It's been hell, but I'm still here and managaging to get stuff done. Some don't understand how I can manage all this, but I've always been on the run. If I stopped something then something might pass me by .... Over the weekend I had over 100 emails and 50+ phone messages. I've pretty much gotten back with most of you, but for some reason I missed your call or email, please let me know and I will give you a call on my dime. With over 5,000 Coiltek coils now on backorder, the phone rings nonstop! It's almost like the GPX-4500 deal, but must worse. Customers are wanting coils now and don't want to wait 30 days. I guess it has to do with the changing dollar from one day to the next. Heck, the GPX-4500's were selling for $9,000 - $15,000 just three months ago. Now you can purchase one for $3,000 in Dubia if you're willing to travel! Thanks for all your understand and continued business with Rob's Detector Sales. Take care, Rob Allison
  5. Hello Montana and All, Well Minelab has a Dealers Convention that I will be attending this week. I plan on asking many of these questions to Minelab USA directly in hopes of having some better information for you all. I'm not saying Minelab has dodged my questions, but at the same time I haven't got any straight answers nor have many customers with units in for repair. Since I've owned and used Minelab detectors (early 90's), I've only had one PI go bad. It was a Minelab GP3000 and the entire board went bad. Like always, I was way away from home and didn't have a backup unit that time. Cany anyone think of any questions they would like me to ask Minelab directly about their service department, repair tech's or anything else besides when the next detector will be released? Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  6. Hey Terry, Looks good! Make sure you refer your customers looking for detecting products to me! LOL ... Let me know when you make it back down next year. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  7. Hey Montana, I think the reason no one has done it yet is the fact the liabilities. Just say you start your own repair business and start repairing Minelab metal detectors on the side. You get a dozen of them in and 6-8 are easy fixes. Then you get a couple that you can't figure out and maybe you messed it up worse than prior. Trust me, customers tell me all the time Minelab messed up their detectors worse than what it was originally. If you're doing service repairs, this will happen to you also. Now you have all the other headaches that come along with it. I don't think there is much money to be made on small electronic repairs and then the headaches you might face later down the line probably don't make it worth it. Also, what kind of warranty do you place on your own work? Will Minelab back it? Just things to think about ... it sounds easy and maybe a money maker, but I think this is the reason most have stayed clear of it so far. Some people have sent in their detectors multiple times and have requested a new one. Just my thoughts, Rob Allison
  8. Hey Guys, Those nuggets could be found with probably any manufactures coil. However, since Coiltek got over there before the other aftermarket coils they will probably make out like a bandit. I heard there are over 5,000 Coiltek Goldstalker's on backorder right now and Trev at Coiltek in Australia has a couple of shifts running to product these numbers. The guys over in Sudan are not real opened minded, so when they use something with success they will not change. The only reason they gave up on the Commander 15x12 coils is the fact they couldn't get anymore, so they had to look for another coil that was similar. The advantage of the Goldstalker's is the fact they are bigger and lighter then the Commander 15x12. Eventually all the coils will be over there and you will hear about finds being found with all makes. Take care, Rob Allison
  9. Hey Guys, I'm hoping to get some answers from Minelab USA here in the next day or so on this. I was told about a month ago all the Minelab Repair Tech's were let go, but when I questioned Minelab on this they said it was false. I'm hoping to hear something from Minelab about what is going on down there. Take care, Rob Allison
  10. Hello All, Just wanted to inform you all on the new promo Minelab USA is running on the GPX-4500 Metal Detector. Starting today (April 14th), Minelab is including a FREE Minelab Commander 15x12-inch elliptical DD Searchcoil with the purchase of a GPX-4500. This promo is only running for short time, so you need to act soon if you're interested. If you purchase from Rob's Detector Sales, you will now get a total of three searchcoils with your purchase. You will receive the stock 11-inch Round, Commander 15x12 DD and your choice of a Commander 8 or 11-inch Round Mono along with all the other goodies. Also, starting next month the price of the GPX-4500 will increase to $4,700 due to the US/Australian dollar change per Minelab USA. Call us (Rob's Detector Sales) today while the items are in stock and ready to ship! We are just a phone call away at 623-362-1459. If we don't answer, leave a message and we will return you call the same day during business hours. Take care, Rob Allison
  11. Hey Doc, Great pictures of Coiltek gold! Tell Trev thanks for sharing the pictures here on the forums. On another note, I know what you mean about the price of the GPX-4500's. I was out at Rich Hill this weekend and ran into two guys that were prospecting near some claims we were at. I went over to question them and they both had brand new GPX-4500's right out of the box. Both of these guys were GREEN as can be when it comes to detecting. We shot the shit for about 15 minutes and then asked them where they purchased their GPX detectors from. They guy stated they purchased them both from the same Arizona dealer and got them for less then $3,500 each. Go figure .... Ya I know the dealer and he is one of the biggest bitchers about people dropping the price and then this .... Oh well, two happy nuggetshooters in the field. Rob Allison
  12. Hey Guys, Just keep in mind with all research and claim programs/maps, that the information is more for research and information. You have to understand that many of the areas might be claimed up. The new Footprint DVD's that I'm selling help with finding open areas, but you still need to do your own research to make sure new claims haven't been placed. Trying to find a program or map that is going to place an "X" on the map and say dig here or "here are open claims, file or prospect on me" will be hard to find. Hope this helps, Rob Allison
  13. Hey Rich, You're very welcome. Thanks for the business. Jim Straight had a new book I will be carrying also. Will post more on it soon. Take care, Rob Allison
  14. Hello Bob, Erik emailed me a few days ago and we have set some things up for Quartzsite and some other research that he is doing on Rich Hill. The book is top notch and I have to Thank him for giving me so much credit in the book. Erik is going to check out some rare specimens I've found around the Quartzsite area. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  15. Hey Doug, Yes, they can be repaired if the damage is near the ends. For the most part, the small wires will break away from the connection point. I've seen some wires get ripped apart from getting snagged in brush and such. For repairs you will need some tools such as a soldiering iron, small tools and potentially a multi-meter. If you make a repair, I would eventually recommend purchase a Coiltek Heavy Duty Curly Cord. These by far are the strongest available out there and I have yet to ever break one. P.S. We still need to get together. What are your plans this weekend? Rob Allison
  16. Hello Redhat, Sorry I was unable to get to this post sooner. Looks like some good suggestions were made. I have yet to have any problems with hot ground using the Goldstalker's. I would try the Enhance timing like JP stated. I've had great results with this timing feature on the GPX-4500. Hope to see you posting more in the future. Rob Allison
  17. Hey Ruby, Great looking map. Been trying to play catch up on the forums. Talked with Calvin and he mentioned the LDMA Outing went well and many were interested in the new Footprint DVD's. Talk with you later, Rob Allison
  18. Hello All, I recommend anyone looking for a GPX-4500 to go with a local or Internet dealer. Purchasing off of Ebay can be risky, especially if it's under the normal selling price of $4,495.00. Anyone looking for one should give me a call. They detectors are now coming in much faster now with very little wait. I also offer one of the best bundle packages, field instructions and shipping/insurance included for free. Take care, Rob Allison
  19. Hello ColoradoGoldMan, Welcome to the forums. I'm just catching up with some of the older posts that I missed. The Coiltek Platypus is a very popular searchcoil, especially for people wanting to hunt in and around water. Most probably use it for gold nugget hunting, but this last weekend I seen a guy using one with a Minelab PI on Newport Beach, CA. Wasn't able to catch up with him, but he was scanning the shallow water line of the beach. Brand new the Mono is $230, the DD Pro is $240. They can be used on all the Minelab PI's, ranging from the SD2000 up to the GPX-4500. Hope this helps, Rob Allison
  20. Hey Bob, I missed this post. I still need to get with Erik on some stuff for Quartzsite. What did you think about the Gold Atlas of Rich Hill book? I have some nice specimens and nuggets from the Quartzsite area for Erik if you talk with him soon. Rob Allison
  21. Hey Jesse, What I tell pretty much everyone is that 3-4 coils will cover pretty much what you need. You don't have to have 10-15 coils, 3-4 will cover pretty all you need. The best coil in my opinion for shallow or exposed bedrock is the Coiltek Joey Mono, Minelab 8-inch Round Mono or the new Coiltek 6-inch Round Mono. All these coil will find small gold and will have max senstivity to small gold. Hope this helps, Rob Allison
  22. Hey Lucky, Great to hear Doug got over some more nuggets. I still need to get out with him. Just been so busy on my end. Congrats Doug! Rob Allison
  23. Hey Uncle Ron, What is Elly doing with a Minelab? I've actually received several calls about a GP3500 in the last couple of weeks. Hopefully one of those guys will see this post. Take care, Rob Allison
  24. Hello Geof, Welcome to the forums and glad you're posting. Thanks for helping encourage others about nugget hunting. By any means it's not easy, but then again it's not impossible to find a gold nugget either. I know it took me about 3 months before I found my first nugget, but in those three months I might have hunted a couple of hours per day and didn't really have a clue what I was doing. I finally was able to meet a guy that spent about 25 years detecting and from there it was down hill. I started finding little nuggets on bedrock and then started doing more exploring. I found about 300-400 nuggets before I found my first one ounce, which was up around the Rich Hill area. Since then I have probably found nearly 10,000 nuggets ranging from grain sized nuggets up solid nugget over 3/4's of a pound and specimens well over a pound in size. It's still out there, just invest in a good metal detector, research and spend the time in the field. Take care, Rob Allison
