  1. Hello All, I just wanted to wish all you prospectors a Happy Father's Day and Weekend. Hope you have the opportunity to get out and find a nice Father's Day Nugget, or at least spend some time with your Father if he is still here. 2. Hey Trev, Thanks for posting more information and and finds from the new Coiltek Gold Extreme Searchcoils. Many customers have mentioned what "afreakofnature" mentioned about the coils being waterproof. I'm sure a good portion of hunters are dry, arid desert detectorist, but some really like that waterproof capability in California, Alaska, Montana and even some of the desert regions during the Winter season. We always have the Coiltek Gold Extreme coils in stock and would love to earn any customers business with our great lifetime customer service.
  3. Hey Guys, Thanks for all the great comments. It's been a long time since I really drywashed and used a dry vac to any extent. I have handfuls of washes were friends and I found a lot of nuggets, but never tried drywashing them. I guess our theory was if we spent another day or two searching virgin areas, the rewards if we found nuggets always seemed to outweigh the time/effort to drywash a location. Gary - Yes, I do remember now the only time my Echo Bucket system blew dirt was when it was full, letting you know it's time to change the bucket. Thanks for the info, that reminded me of that and I do remember. Adam - Agree, I thought if you were out sucking up gravel, the filter that is mounted inside would have to be removed. Matt - I might give a smaller battery powered unit a try before hauling in the bigger stuff. I could always use a smaller vac around the shop and I have a bunch of Dewalt Power Tools, so maybe I could get lucky and they are the same size. On another note, years ago when a few friends and I attempted to work a few washes where we found hundreds of nuggets, the drywashing was very piss poor. I actually found this in a few locations, spots we thought we would clean house. Anyone else experience this before?
  4. Hey Guys, I know there are some expert drywasher/dry vac gold prospectors out there. I have (2) Echo 2 stroke engines on 5 gallon bucket dry-vacs and one corded new Rigid (pictured below). I know on the Echo systems, they blow a ton of dust out one side, but if I wanted to use the corded Rigid Dry Vac in the field with a small Generator, do I need to keep the big air filter in it? Reason I'm asking, one person told me I needed to remove it, so I started questioning myself about it. Any recommendations on a small portable generator that would power this ok? I probably just need something to power the vac, trying to stay as lightweight as possible. I guess either way, you're dragging fuel into the field ..... Thought about dragging my Keene 140 Drywasher, Generator and Dry Vac into the field and give it a whirl.

  10. Hey Guys, Well, since I haven't been out in some time, I guess all I can do it look at old pictures and think about places I have been, or should return for short Summer hunts. One location, mid-sized gulch in Central area that a few friends and I found yield over a pound of gold from metal detecting. We discovered and worked this location hard when the Minelab GPX series first came out (GPX 4000 days). We continued to re-visit over the years after larger storms or new detector releases to score more gold. Due to the nature of the gold, very rough and not far from the original source, I figured this location would be great for the Minelab GPZ 7000. One of my first visits to this location yielded all the gold nuggets below in a single, long day hunt with the GPZ 7000 and stock 14x13 searchcoil. I have been back 3-4 times with the GPZ to the point where I would have to hunt a good portion of a day to get a few gold nuggets. The wash really wasn't deep to bedrock, maybe in only a handful of spots. I would guess majority of the wash was 3-6 inches deep, or exposed bedrock. My thought process has been to potentially go back and placer the larger rocks and overburden out, then work the paylayer (gravel right on bedrock) with a small drywasher and vac. I would think due to the nature of this gold, there would be a lot of smaller gold (several grain size and smaller) in the cracks of the bedrock along with all the finer gold. Any thoughts? P.S. The biggest nugget we discovered was a bit over an ounce solid. The biggest nugget pictured below that I found with a GPZ 7000 is around 3/4's of an ounce. It was a a fun spot to detect when we first bumped into it.
  11. Hey Click, Welcome to the forums. There are tons of great guys/gals here that will help for sure. I know a handful of Nuggetshooters around the San Bernardino County. Hopefully some of them will chime in and help, as I'm not real familiar with that area, nor I have hunted around there. Thanks for joining!
  12. Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments guys. Uncle Ron - No, he wishes it was him.
  13. Hey Adam, That is great question, but I think we know the answer (or you do). I would tend to agree here in the US, the DD's get used less for sure. That being said, I'm sure that is why they are offer a FREE 15x12 DD vs. a very popular coil like the Minelab 8" Commander Mono. The DD's in some places work very well, along with being able to discriminate iron. I think majority of US nuggetshooters are using Mono's though. Good observation.

  17. Hey Guys, Thanks! It was good to get back out and the weather is still really nice here in Arizona. I need to get out more often and keep the body in metal detecting shape.
  18. Hey Bob, Congrats on the place you got in Yarnell. Hit me up sometime, maybe we could bring away for a trip to Rich Hill.
  19. Hey Guys, Well it's been months since the last time swinging the detector. I broke away Saturday with a friend to hunt a wash where we found a good amount of gold in the past. That being said, the wash is normally always dry, but for some reason there was plenty of water running this time of the year. The detecting was a bit more difficult as every target was in the mud and iron rubbish didn't want to stick to the magnet very well. After a good day of detecting, I managed a handful of iron rubbish targets, several bullets, bullet casings, a few old buttons and a gold nugget to boot. The nugget was found with the Minelab GPZ 7000 and was approx. 1.2 Dwt's. I thoughts I was working on my first skunk for the season .....
  20. Hey All, Long time friend and nugget hunting buddy scored a real beautiful 1.93 ouncer recently with his Minelab GPX 5000 Metal Detector. Gold Nuggets like this are not common, so it's a good find for sure. Congrats on Lunker you found! This was an Arizona high desert find.
  21. Hey Guys, Had some customers send over some recent finds. Here is one from the Montana area that is 1 1/4 ounce in weight. It was found in an old patch with a Minelab GPZ 7000. Great find and very nice character to the piece. Wishing you much more success!
  22. Hey Walker, Wow, some beautiful gold you found there. I'm assuming with the Minelab GPZ 7000 metal detector. Thanks for posting, hope to see more finds this following season.
  23. Hey Guys, A good friend of mine Dan sent me over these pictures of Jim. Dan was taking care of Jim for a long time and helping promote and sell his books.
