  1. Hey Rod and Doc, Rod - Like always, you wrote a very honest and accurate opinion on metal detecting and detector technology upgrades. I'm also one that don't get too wrapped up in technology know how, but rather using the detector to really well. I think the key with most detectors is threshold, accurate ground balance and paying attention to faint targets if you're chasing deeper stuff. I have re-visited many old patches that myself and many friends hunted for years. I pulled more nuggets and trash from these areas with the GPZ 7000 and stock 14x13 coil. Just working old patches that first Summer season in 2015 I scored over 9 ounces in old patches working on the weekends (roughly 3-4 months). I pretty much paid for the GPZ on old patches where guys worked with early VLF's to the current GPX series. I was pretty impressed, but never found anything over 1/2 ounce at depth. The big ones just seem to be far and few in-between in most locations. It's always been great knowing you Rod, from the early days of you helping me with the forums and even website. We have had a great friendship and hope it stays that way forever. Thanks for always being a loyal customer and friend. Wishing you great success with the GPZ 7000. Hope you keep us updated here on your success as you use it more. Doc - I think most agree with the Minelab PI's, they have gotten somewhat better each time out. I think in my opinion the greatest moment in time was the jump from the SD to the GP Extreme. I found a lot of gold during that time. I think the jump from the GPX to the GPZ might be close, but still give the edge to the SD-GP era for at least me. I like you Doc have re-visited many spots and continue to find more gold with the GPZ. This makes it very fun to detect these areas again.
  2. Hey Guys, Thanks for the great pictures and story. Sure are a lot of creatures roaming around the desert in the night hours. Wishing you much more success out there detecting. Stay hydrated and be aware of your surroundings at night!
  3. Hey AZ-sourdough, I agree with you 100%. Glad to see you on the forums. I was hoping to find some more pictures on T-Bone, but I don't have much of my pictures from back in the early 90's when I hunted up around Northern Nevada. Now with a family & business, it makes it very difficult to break away for more than a few days. If anyone has any stories, pictures or articles about Terry T-Bone I would love to pass them on to his Daughter. Thanks!
  4. Hey Guys, I remember hearing back when the GPZ first was released back in mid 2015 that there might be a 11-inch coil. I thought (I could be wrong) seeing the 11-inch, 14x13 and the 19-inch.
  5. Hey Doc, The last couple of Bates I got from you really tore out on the side. I have somewhat flat feet, so this is not uncommon over time with most boots I wear. However, the last couple really tore out quickly and one sole even came completely off. It just seemed in my opinion the quality of the Bates boots went downhill over the years. I should have sent the pairs back, but I just figured it was a hassle and decided to give a few other boots a try. In all honesty, it's hard to find a good quality No-Metal boot. Hope all is well on your end.
  6. Hey Doc and Adam, Doc - let us know how those new Bates work out. The last couple of pairs of Bates I purchased just fell apart too quickly. Adam - Same to you, let us know how those ones work. It's hard to find a good pair of boots anymore that are No Metal. Also, if we know what boot you're wearing, we can ID who was walking up the wash! I'm wearing sandals now, so it's hard to see the footprints.
  7. Hey Doc, I have to agree, I'm on my third order of the Gold Monsters and I still don't have one to play with yet. With the 15% Military Discount, you can't beat a top of the line Minelab VLF for $679.15. This price smashes all the competition in my opinion. I have a buddy that bought one from me, we played with it a bit together and I was amazed on the sensitivity to small gold. I wouldn't of thought the 45Khz could find such small gold. I have a bunch of spots that still has dinks, so this will be fun to re-visit with the Gold Monster! Good looking boots also.
  8. Hey Guys, I bumped this thread as I just got off a long talk with T-Bone's Daughter. She called me tonight and told me a lot of information on her Father. She is searching for information and pictures of her Father and even of the 27 ounce gold nugget. Any pictures you might have, or know someone, please let me know. She is also looking to find the original article about the nugget. I told her I couldn't remember what magazine it was in, but would search ICMJ, GPAA, Western Treasure and Lost Treasure to see if I could find it. Anyone know off hand or would happen to have a copy of this article I would love to get a copy to give to her. Thanks for all the information in advance.

  10. Hey Chuck, Will be waiting to hear some of your feedback on the Gold Monster once you hit the goldfields. Mike C. posted a good write up on how him and his wife found a small nugget under a grain with the new Gold Monster 1000. The Minelab SDC 2300 couldn't hear it, so that is even more interesting.
  11. Hey Mike, Excellent first report on the Minelab Gold Monster 1000 from you and your Wife. I haven't been out with one yet, so hoping to get more feedback from the first guys in the field with it. Keep us posted on the Pro's/Con's of the new Gold Monster 1000. Congrats on the first nugget find with it. Interesting the SDC 2300 didn't hear it.
  12. Hey Sasquatch, Congrats on the use of the GPX 4500 and Coiltek DD coil. You will have to be easier on the coil use, I can't keep selling you coils ..... LOL Hopefully like you mentioned it wasn't one of your friend's dig holes and he walked away from it.
  13. Hey Chuck, Congrats on it's arrival. Sorry to hear about the Fedex Tracking dates being all over the place. As you know, I ship right away, so after that it's in the hands of the shipping carrier. I have had more issues with UPS over the years, one reason I ship more with Fedex now. You can do your warranty online with Minelab at this URL - https://register.minelab.com/index.html#/form/product I didn't realize there wasn't a warranty card provided. I will look into this more. Let me know when you get out how the units performs for you. Thanks again for your long, continued business with us here at Rob's Detector Sales.
  14. Hey Sasquatch, Wow, that is an impressive quartz-gold specimen. Did you find it with the GPZ 7000? Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more finds in the near future from you. Hello from the hot Arizona desert
  15. Hey Mike, Sorry I didn't get back with you more last night. Been really burning the candle on both ends lately. I have several new ones, aluminum uppers and I think I have a used one. Let me check tonight if you don't find one before hand. Get out with the Monster!
  16. Hey Mike, You're welcome. I think a handful of others got their's today or tomorrow. Please let me know what you think. I won't have one to use for a bit, too many pre-orders right now to get out.

  19. Hello All, Here is a good video done by Nenad in Australia, owner of Phase Technical. The video shows some comparisons of the GPZ 19-inch coil in different settings vs. the GPX 5000 with the NF EVO 19-inch Mono Round. I think the video is very well done and some interesting facts from it.
  20. Hey Mike, That is correct, good observation. This is in fact the Rich Hill - Stanton, Arizona area. The Mountain in the background isn't Weaver Mountain though.
  21. Hey Guys, I don't want to Spam my own main forum, but I wanted to make sure you all see some of the deals I'm letting go due to the Summer and lack of prospecting for the next 2-3 months.
  22. Hey Tortuga, Ya, it was a surprise as we were both digging a lot of bullets and small bits of iron from this location. I have found a few small ones within throwing distance of this one, but I walked around this one myself.

  24. Hello All, I actually had two different customers this last weekend, one customer with a Minelab SDC 2300 and another couple that purchased a Minelab GPZ 7000. We spent about 4 hours in the field going over all the settings, tips, tricks and general detecting techniques. The last hour of detecting with the couple that purchased the GPZ, they hit a nice 1.5 to 2 Gram gold nugget at a pretty good depth in an old scrap. The couple came all the way from Montana to get the instructions so they could make full use of the GPZ on the Montana placers during the Summer months. Thanks for the purchases from us at Rob's Detector Sales. The training and lifetime support we offer with most detector purchases can get anyone off and running finding gold nuggets much quicker.
  25. Hey Uncle Ron, Yes, you are correct with no real new ones. I have probably 20 videos I haven't uploaded, probably dating back a year or so. Some are so large, it takes 3-4 hours to upload them.
