  1. Hey Guys, Steve H., - Great article. You have a natural knack for writing and always make us feel like we are getting the real truth, no BS or sales pitches. Adam - I have confirmed with Minelab Americas that no accessories for the new GPZ 7000 will be available until June. I'm hoping at least coil covers come before then .....
  2. Hey Randy, You're welcome and Thanks for the order. We always try to take care of our customers and send freebies when we can. We try to keep everything in stock at all times, but in the busy season there are times when we might be out of an item for a short time and we are able to have our Distributors & Manufactures drop ship a missing item. We would love to earn anyone's business out there and promise to give you the best customer service available.
  3. Hey Steve, Great advice and thanks for sharing the info. Customers have been asking, but have been hesitant to tell them they could use them without consulting with Minelab. Minelab has said it will actually be a part number for the GPZ. For now, it's a good way to have a backup battery for your new GPZ 7000. I might try one this weekend to see if there is any weight reduction and to see how long I can get out of one. I agree, if you charge the stock battery, you will get all day. I hunted for at least 8 hours last weekend, really pushing it and it showed about 1/4 left on the battery symbol.
  4. Hey Mike, Tell Chris I will give you a good deal ..... Haha .... Hope to see you swinging one soon.
  5. Hello All, Anyone know of a good company or individual that specializes in web design, online forums and video production stuff (Youtube video and such)? Thanks for your time. Please call, email or PM me through the forums.
  6. Hello All, Just got off the phone with Minelab Americas and accessories for the new GPZ 7000 won't be available until June. Many have talked about extra batteries, as they would like to takes trips and have a spare. Right now I got confirmation that the Minelab CTX 3030 Rechargeable Battery, part number 3011-0118 for $149.00 will work and will be a item for the GPZ when they are in stock. I snagged up all the last of these batteries, so if you need one, give us a call. I believe I have 10-12 in stock total, going to keep a few for myself. This battery will last roughly 4 hours and is smaller and lighter. $155.00 and I will ship them US Priority Mail to your front door. Just a FYI.
  7. Hey Goldfind, The Gain/Sensitive are the same setting. Some detectors call it "Gain" others call it "Sensitivity." The Audio Smoothing helps stable the Threshold and Audio overall. For the most part, most are run "Low" or "Off." I seen one guy mention he is running "High," which I haven't hear much of.
  8. Hey Strick, Ya, the nugget weighed 3/4's of a Dwt, a tiny bit heavier than I thought. The hole was 7-8 inches to the bottom of the crack. I'm guessing it was wedged down in the very bottom. I haven't found any decent ones, but many of these patches didn't have huge nuggets, but a lot of 1-2 Dwt sized nuggets. I'm excited to take it over some other spots and work really slow and see what turns up. Thanks for watching the Youtube video. I'm hoping guy enjoy them, they take forever to upload to Youtube at a HD format.
  9. Hello All, Here is one of my customers statements the first day out with his new GPZ 7000. I can't mention names or location.
  10. Hey Rick, I haven't used the GPZ 7000 around powerlines yet. That being said, I've never been able to raise really any coil on my GPX 5000 and hunt the sidewalls, banks and such without a ton of wobbling. The GPZ is so smooth, no noise when I turn the coil sideways to hunt banks. I love this, already found a few small nuggets with it this way that I wouldn't have heard with my GPX 5000 due to the EMI and noise when the coil is not dead flat on the ground.
  11. Hello Way2cool, Ya I got a couple of nice ones over the years down there, but if you knew how many 2+ foot holes I dug it would blow your mind. I should have learned by now, if you show someone a spot, they dig, rake and pilfer the area.
  12. Hello All, Here is another short video of a small nugget I found at depth. Going to take a lot of these little ones to pay for this Monster detector!!
  13. Hey Chris, Greaterville is a goldfield no different that most. It has potential just like Rich Hill, Quartzsite, Lake Havasu and other placers that have produced large gold nuggets and specimens. I was blessed with some good friends that showed me that placer area years ago and gave me a tour of where some of the better spots were and big nuggets found. With all the information, I spent hundreds of hours swinging the gulches, benches and hillsides in hopes of a single nugget. Greaterville is a tough hunt, most get skunked on a normal basis. The amount of trash and high mineralization makes it a tough hunt for the average detectorist. Most will hunt it for a day or a weekend, get skunked and never return. The ones that continue to get skunked will eventually hit a nice one at some point (hopefully). You're on a 1-1 scorecard right now, lets see how that changes in the next couple of hunts down there! Wishing you much more luck.
  14. Hey Doc, Great story and find for the new customer. Ya, there will always be debate about detectors and coils and how they compare to the next model. I've heard this for the last 16+ years on the Minelab. Funny, all the guys that claim their detectors will do just as good, go deeper or whatever will never invite me to their patch!! I guess that tells me they might have some fear the new unit might be doing something beyond what they have ..... All that being said, just get out and hunt with what you can afford and enjoy it. There is plenty of gold out there still near the surface, a smaller percentage is that deeper, larger gold that everyone wants to dream about.
  15. Hey Jim, I didn't know that. Gary has done a lot for Minelab in the US. Kudos to him!!
  16. Great hit for Greaterville. It's a tough place to hunt, tons of trash and mineralized ground. There is gold left, but you're going to work hard for it.
  17. Hey Doc, Great video. I just posted a video tonight from a old pounded patch also. Don't sweat the self-promoting, I don't think like that (you've been too good to me over the years, I probably at least owe you that). Keep us updated on any more success with the new GPZ.
  18. Hey Russ, Great success with the new GPZ 7000. Keep us posted if you would. I know it's just a matter of time until you get that faint signal that is down 2 foot deep!!
  19. Hello All, Here is a short video of a Gram sized nugget I found at about 8 inches with the new GPZ 7000. Pounded this ground with SD's, GP's and my GPX 5000 with coils up to 20-inches. Amazing what this unit is doing on depth, just haven't got over a large one yet. Took 4 out of this spot with the GPZ this weekend. Hope you enjoyed, more coming soon. P.S. Still have GPZ 7000 in stock if anyone is searching for one.
  20. Hey Goldstudmuffin, wishing a couple of those under your new Super 14-inch DD ZED Searchcoil and a few under mine.
  21. Hey Goldstudmuffin, Great advice on paying off the unit. I'm not going to quote how many I have sold, but my guess is there is over $1,000,000 worth of GPZ's sold in the first week or so from the major US dealers alone. If I had to make an educated guess, only a very small percentage of them (less than 10%) will ever pay for the unit in full. This could take a day if you hit the right patch or nugget. It also could take weeks, months, years or a lifetime! I think the ones that will pay for it are the ones that will hit their old patches that have been productive in the past, continue to search for new patches and continue to hunt on a regular basis. I have sold detectors to customers over the years and they stated they were only going to be able to use it for 3-4 days on a trip, then it would be another year before they could use it again ... Wishing everyone much luck with the new GPZ's. I think it will be an exciting year for the guys that have them. I know it only takes one nice one, but then again those damn nuggets are so far and few ...
  22. Hey Russ, Great to hear about your success to date with the new GPZ 7000. All of my customers have pretty much given me some report back, all of them have pretty much found gold on old patches so far. Most have only been out 1-2 days since the unit is so new. I have only been out once, but picked up 8 smaller ones at depth (4-5 inches) with the new GPZ. No question I missed a lot of targets and nuggets with the GPX 5000 and SDC on this ground. One target was 12-14 inches and was a boot rivet, which I thought was going to be a nice nugget. I also dug 4 pieces of lead around 5-6 inches in a few small gullies I pounded before that I missed. I haven't heard of any lunkers found with the GPZ here in the US from my customers, but one guy has found a 3/4 ouncer at depth. Keep in mind, most are not real willing to sit on the internet and tell others how great the unit is, trying to convince others to buy why they are plucking as many nuggets as possible from old patches. The less GPZ's on the ground, the more potential for the ones that own it now. There is a small circle of guys that are very serious about nuggetshooting and have many patches. It's a real game to be the first ones back (regardless of what is found) on the ground with a new detector or coil before the next guy. Trust me, I hear all the stories about old patches when a new detector is released .... Gubelube - No question the GPZ is going deeper. Spent several hours testing nuggets with a Coiltek 14-inch Round Mono on the GPX in Sharp and Normal modes (deepest gold modes in my opinion) vs. the GPZ with the super DD 14x13. I'm convinced enough to know from what I have found so far, my testings, my friends reports back that I'm going back to all my GPX patches at some point and rehunting them.
  23. Hey Jen, I suppose you could do that, but it's not the normal procedure on ground balancing. That being said, if the ground is hot, I always ground balance around a "suspect" target zone. I will then dig some material out and check my ground balance on the soil dug out. This will normally let you know if the soil is hot and you're out of balance or the unit will not balance on that ground 100%. Normally, if you balance to the soil you dug out and get a smooth threshold and then get a response on the dig area, I have always found it's a deep, faint good target. Hope this helps a bit,
  24. Hey Russ, Congrats and glad you hear the GPZ is finding gold for you. Wishing you a lunker under the new Super DD coil.
