  1. Hey Guys, Thanks for the comments. The Sunbaker was found by the same detector, the GPZ.
  2. Hey DesertNuggets, No question it's a gold nugget, but probably more of an Electrum nugget. Many gold nuggets contain a much higher silver percentage, some as high as 20% or more making them an Electrum nugget (80% gold, 20% silver). Hope this helps a bit,
  3. Hello All, Haven't been out too much, but here are 5 small batches of gold nuggets from various placer locations here in Arizona. All the gold was found with my Minelab GPZ 7000. I also found one of the smallest nuggets to date with the GPZ shown below. The piece is .6 grains (480 grains to a Troy ounce). I'm pretty convinced the GPZ can find gold just as small as the SDC 2300 now with the settings I'm using. The SDC just makes the pinpointing portion much easier with the small coil. The tiny dink I told you about, under a grain in size and at about an inch deep on bedrock - How about this Sunbaker sitting right on the bedrock - It's still out there!
  4. Hello mn90403, Thanks for that link. Looks like from your and my calculations, we are only off 3-4 Grams. We both calculated over 4 ounces of gold, well over half the specimen weight.
  5. Hey Dave, Excellent finds! Great to see the new NF Evolution 12-inch scoring. I just sold a few more recently, customers reporting some good finds. Nothing crazy huge yet, but many smaller nuggets at depth (1-4 gram size) so far. Thank you for your long time business and friendship. Wishing you a very successful 2016 season.
  6. Happy Birthday Guys. Hope you both can get out and get some of that 2016 gold!
  7. Hey Dave, We have heard rumors, but we don't like to assume anything about anyone here. Please keep all the politics off the forums please.
  8. Hello All, It's been awhile since I have conducted a specific gravity test. I found a nice Quartz & Gold Specimen awhile back with the Minelab GPZ 7000. The piece was almost 2 foot, just a whisper. Almost didn't dig it due to the trash in the nearby area. The piece was extremely heavy for the size of the rock, so I knew it had a good amount of gold before cleaning it. I found this site that shows how to "Do a Specific Gravity Test & Formula." ---- http://www.gold-nuggets.org/specific-gravity-test.htm I followed the calculations the best I could, so hoping someone could double check my work. The air weight of the piece was 210.5 Grams. The water weight was 172.5 Grams. From my calculations, the piece has over 4 ounces of gold (which makes sense with the heft of the specimen), 60+ percent gold. Here are some pictures of my Triple Beam Scale during the testing.
  9. Hello All, GPX 4500 sold right away. The Fors Gold is the original model. Several emails, no payment yet on this unit.
  10. Hello All, I have two units, but in like new condition, both used one time. They were both traded back in and originally purchased from us. The GPX 4500 is the Universal package, all accessories and two coils included, warranty still included. Customer was searching for micro-type gold in the lode, this unit didn't have the sensitivity to find that very porous gold. He traded back in for Goldbug's. I'm asking $1800 Firm on this unit. Selling new for $2699.00 limited time, normal MAP is $4195.00. GPX4500 SOLD Same with Notka Fors Gold, used one time. Customer traded back in for a Minelab PI. I'm asking $500 firm on this unit. Call us at 623.362.1459 or email us at - rob@robsdetectors.com I will list them on my "used and discontinued" section on my online store here in the next day or so.
  11. Hey Doc, Congrats on end the 2015 season well and starting off on a good foot for 2016. Last year was a pretty good year for me also, spent majority of the time working the GPZ 7000 on old hammered patches. No question, paid for the GPZ in about 4-5 months (weekends mostly). Majority of the gold was 2-3 Grams and smaller, which I call the "Beans and Bacon" gold. We all love to find those large lumps, but the reality is they are far and few in between compared to the gram size gold nuggets. We still need to get out for a hunt this season.
  12. Hey Jen, A lot of old placers in that general area. Just about any direction from Quartzsite is gold bearing. Many good, but worked gold placers no more than 15-30 minute drive from Q. Be careful around the Indian Reservations and Bombing Ranges. There is still a lot of debate on the Bombing Ranges, but I know for a fact the CRIP Indian Reservation is off limits (although many continue to sneak in there). A few nuggets and the fact you have to look over your shoulder all the time is not worth loosing a metal detector and fines. I'm not sure if they arrest you or not, I'm not taking that chance.
  13. Hey Tom, Well even though it wasn't gold, it's sure a nice find, thinking about the history behind it. Sometimes you find the oddest things metal detecting, but if you sit back and think about how it got there, who owned it and the entire story behind the find(s), it's fascinating.
  14. Hey Ron, Amanda from Prospectors was going to come out and meet with Doc and I last year, not sure what happened (Doc might be able to say). I've watched the show a bit, Colorado sure has some great minerals. That being said, I just sold a GPZ to a customer in Colorado, he said they are getting much stricter on mineral collection on public lands .... Go figure!! Great looking quartz cluster you have there. I'm not sure of the value, if any, but they sure are fun to look at. A theory is where you find large quartz crystals, could mean bigger gold.
  15. Hey Billy, I know you had the Makro Racer and loved it, so let me know what you think of the new Gold Racer. I pretty much sold everything, have one unit of each left in stock. Another order around the corner. I'm hoping to play around with the unit this weekend if it don't sell .....
  16. Hello All, Spent all day packing the new Makro Gold Racers (Pro and Standard) metal detectors up for customers that pre-orders. Well started this morning, just wrapped up for the most part. I only have a few left and several of each of the searchcoils left in stock. This unit is going to be a great detector. Can't wait to hear all the feedback on this new unit. If you're still searching for one, contact us right away or order from our online store at - Makro Gold Racer Standard Pack with free shipping - $699.00 - http://www.robsdetectors.com/makro-gold-racer-metal-detector Makro Gold Racer Pro Package with free shipping - $899.00 - http://www.robsdetectors.com/makro-gold-racer-metal-detector-pro-package I'm hoping there is one left for me to play with!
  17. Hey Jen and All, Over the years I always had the best success with Verizon Wireless. When the Iphone first came out, AT&T was the only major carrier for that phone, so I switched over to have the Iphone. That was a huge mistake, I locked into a few years with AT&T and got the worst coverage possible, even in town in some places. I was so damn unsatisfied with AT&T and heard that Verizon picked up the Iphone, I paid to get out of my contract with AT&T and went back with Verizon Wireless. I have been happy ever since for the most part. I purchased a GMC several years back and was happy it had the Onstar on it. I thought Onstar was a true Satellite phone, so I figured I was safe having it in remote location. I learned last weekend that Onstar don't get out in some locations and it's really a wireless cell phone type service, not a true Satellite phone.
  18. Hey Doc, Great pictures! Hey, I know what area, we spend some time there many years ago! Would be fun to get over there and run the GPZ's over some of that old ground to see what we could turn up. Wishing you much success on potentially finding where the gold is shedding down from.
  19. Hey Roo, Thanks for the information, both NF Evolution and Coiltek Elite's are selling really well right now.
  20. Hey Doc, Great story and finds with your customer. Always great to get a new customer over his first nuggets and let him dig it. Like your field instructions, I do the same, prospect also and see if I can locate good targets for the customer to examine and dig. It's always good to let them her what we call "faint" targets, most new customer would never ID or did them. We still need to get together and do that hunt we have talked about for over a year.
  21. Hey Californiagold, Normally when you find some stacking like that, you have a good chance to find a nugget or two. Congrats on the finds and success with the Notka.
  22. Hey Guys, It's a pretty amazing story and find. Just goes to show, they are still out there (but rare).
  23. Hello All, I happen to have this link sent to me from a customer. Pretty interesting to hear the story behind the big nuggets -
